Informal or not, any experience helps in the field. It's likely that they'll take interest in your pre-existing physical capabilities and whether or not you respond well to the training they'd provide you after admittance, making you a better choice for the department.
There are many rules and standards to adhere to. I think you'll find these rather straightforward.
Police officers are public servants meant to uphold the laws that keep their citizens safe. Their duties are to prevent and respond to crime, protect the general public, and ensure that the city stays clean of wrongdoing and injustice - all without bias, remaining ethical and humane in their proceedings. Most of them want the best for everyone, but there can be a few who slip through the cracks when they're ill-suited for police work.
It may have stricter laws about what you can and cannot do, but your mindset is the right one. In my experience, there is always room for upward growth. In life and in police departments.

Would you do me a favour? I wanted to join the NAPD when I first got here but was discouraged from it... maybe you could put in a good word for me. If I manage to impress you in the time it takes for you to pass their screening processes. If not, I understand completely, we don't know one another well yet.
Gaby. Maybe she didn't trust me at the time, but she told me that Morningstar couldn't provide an adequate enough background that's needed for NAPD checks.
I do hope you get in. Please give me updates on your progress.

Well, certainly. I'll answer any questions you have to the best of my ability.
Are you looking to join the NAPD?

What would you like to see yourself doing?

I was part of the guard in the place I was before I ended up here. I won't have a problem adhering to their standards.
I just don't know how it's different. I want to help people. Keep civilians safe. Maybe work my way to up something more advanced.

Discouraged by who?
I'd be glad to, assuming I make it in myself and they trust me enough to care what I think. You don't have to impress me.
[ because he already impressed clarke. ]
