Was that part of the design, to make you nice and provide for people in need or w/e or is this more your choice? (idk if I'm wording that right, tell me if I'm off)
No, you're wording it just fine. I was programmed to appeal to humans in both aesthetic and personality, as my original run was used for hostage negotiations. That was a short time after I was first activated.
I could, however, choose to treat humans however I liked so long as it forwarded my investigations. This was a choice, but one I wasn't really making. If that makes sense at all.
Picture if you were... told that you would being given the freedom to do whatever you liked, but only within the parameters an authority figure dictated. That there were dozens and dozens of rules to follow, ones both known to you and not.
Wow really? That's a crazy job. Did you like doing that kind of stuff? Sounds pretty stressful but if you're made for it ig it's not as bad.
Yeah... the rule stuff sounds like it'd be a big problem for me. There's a lot of rules you know and don't know when you're a soldier too so you have to stay in line. Do you still have any of that stuff now?
No, I broke my programming a couple of months ago. Markus had a hand in that.
(sometimes it scares him to think that he might. amanda took him over so easily, now it's haunting. like he's been branded by her presence.
he leaves that detail out, for both of their sakes.)
The job can be stressful, but now that I'm able to protect both androids and humans the way that I want makes it a career I'll gladly undertake. It's challenging and rewarding. Having a human partner that I work well with helps a lot.
What sort of soldier are you, if I may ask? Army, navy, or air force?
I think I get what you were saying now about him if he got you out of all that. Helped get you your freedom, I mean.
I've got human partners too lol, can't complain too much.
We don't really break them down like that. There hasn't been a standing army back home for a long time, but there are a lot of guards and personnel that maintain order in the city and protect from other outside factors. There's a bunch stationed near the city entrances, but I was posted at the Citadel. Royal guard.
"i've got human partners too", when noctis knows that he's a human calling other humans human.)
I like that joke.
If you're a royal guard, it makes sense that you're extremely capable. Those positions are usually only given to the most skilled soldiers, right? At least that's the way it is back on Earth, when it comes to bodyguards and other similar positions. What do you specialize in?
[ The first response comes quick even for Connor and it honestly warms him a little, able to put aside his own -- brief -- disagreement with the man to appreciate Connor's faith in him. An impressive leader... ]
You mean weapons? Or...
Listen, weird question, but how's he your leader, did you guys pick him? He inspires you, right?
It's not as weird a question as you think. Markus became deviant - a term that applies to androids who manage to break their core programming - and found others like him. I wasn't a part of their collective at this time, so I'm not sure when it was formed or how, but he was the first android to come forward publicly to denounce human ownership and demand rights for us.
I remember his speeches... they were really something.
He did those things and much more. He freed androids from commercial properties like the warehouses in our district and the department stores that sell our people in the city, led demonstrations in the streets, and eventually-
Well I haven't told him what I've experienced yet. The future he shows everyone the way to. We're from different timelines and I don't know if I should or if it'd eventually cause damage to it, so I can't say anything more.
He's the bravest person I know... one of them, at least. Did that answer your questions?
It's okay, you don't have to try to push yourself to say too much or w/e. I know everyone's probably got stuff they have to hold back here.
[ Savior, liberator, someone who'd made promises and kept them. Lived up to his potential and more. Is it enough to focus on his actions? There's his image to think about too. ]
Yeah, that answers them all for me, thanks. Anyway tasks are different daily posts, sometimes inside the Citadel but usually outside. Lots of responsibility. Lots of daily training too and drills. [ ... ] You really want a list of weapons?
I want to be genuine, now that I have the choice to be. I try to be.
Thank you for understanding.
(it's still so new, spilling his guts to other people. he can look at everything objectively, but markus wants him to tune in more to his emotions and let himself feel — it's difficult. it's one of the most difficult things he's had to face and he can count all of the tough choices he's had to make.
sighs, rubbing at his forehead.)
I can imagine it's pretty rigorous, but you don't have to provide a list or anything... unless you really specialize in enough things that it'd require a list.
If that's the case, Noctis, I have to confess that I'm more than a little bit curious.
[ He wants to be genuine... now that he has the choice to be? It sounds good, but all Noctis wants to do is embrace the honesty in wanting to lift the weight off his shoulders for now while ignoring the reality of his situation. He certainly can't have both, but even this short time has been a brief reprieve. Surprising how much Connor's already given him to mull over. ]
Well we want you to be curious lol, keep holding onto that feeling. Let me think...
- short swords - broadswords - handguns - rifles - spears/staves/polearms - elemancy - daggers - shields - axes - maces - idk I did some bow training once or twice, and a few other ones

It sounded that way when he talked to me about androids, anyway, or robots. So bravery's a big part of it too.
